Coincidence or Harassment?

Yesterday afternoon, after my post about the Kid Rock flyby, I got quite a surprise. A loud whirling noise awoke me from my prescribed afternoon nap. Outside my window, two large BlackHawk helicopters were circling my property, and one landed in my backyard. Before the soldiers got to my door, I photographed the copter still airborne.

I decided to open the door, rather than have them break it down. They grabbed my camera and took the film out. Unknown to them, I had also taken a photo with my cellphone. I called my congressman, Ryan Mackenzie, to complain, but nobody from his office returned my message.

I also called the office of the Attorney General, but apparently Pam Bondi is having her own issues. When a small town pizza blogger gets harassed, who is safe?  I guess you are, commenting anonymously, but I'd rather...

ADDENDUM: Secretary of War Hegseth removed the Chief of Staff yesterday, General Randy George. Fortunately, at this time, we're not involved in any military operations, which could be compromised by such a change.

ADDENDUM 10:00AM: Today Hegseth changed a long standing policy, and servicemen will be able to carry personal weapons on military bases. He brayed that he was honoring their 2nd Amendment rights. I know that there are military police and guards who are armed.  If Hegseth has the institutional military knowledge to make such a major change, I sincerely doubt. One wonders if the timing indicated that General George wasn't on board with the plan.

  1. I wonder who appointed General George chief? Humm? Any guess?

  2. anon@6:51: He was appropriately appointed by Biden. His background and experience is very impressive. The bad timing of this forced retirement is apparently political. These actions by Hegseth must play havoc on military moral.

    1. The significant increase Generals, Admirals, etc. over the past couple decades has itself been POLITICAL. People are elevated in rank under the expectation they will support a growing military/industrial complex that, in effect, funds our bloated civilian government. That same bloated government of wasteful spending that also helps to personally enrich our politicians.

Things aren’t so black and white, howling at the moon every night, and lashing out at others, really does little to help.

I suggest creating a smaller, less bureaucratic government with many DIFFERENT people in our Legislative Branch.

  3. anon@8:43: We need a Chief Of Staff, what was wrong with General George besides being appointed by Biden? How do you justify the change in the middle of a conflict?

  4. anon@10:36: I printed your ignorant comment. If you took the time to look up Randy George, you would know that it was an excellent appointment, even if by Biden or whoever. Such knee jerk comments such as yours, which demand a reply, may well not appear if submitted.

  5. All Generals and Admirals are political creatures, period.
    Ask any career military person.

  8. A few points:

The President (any President) has the right to have people in the government - including the military - that support his goals. If not, we shouldn’t even bother to hold elections.

As someone else noted, the military has an excessive number of high-ranking officers. There are more officers today commanding fewer troops than we had in WWII. There are more than enough competent officers to replace George.

The fact that we are currently in a conflict is all the more reason to make sure everyone is on the same page - especially at the highest ranks. Conflicting messages can be fatal.

Regarding Second Amendment rights for servicemen, it’s about time. There have been numerous instances of innocent soldiers being killed on base (by both civilian's and other soldiers). Those killed had no way to effectively fight back. Off-duty soldiers would still have to receive permission to carry, but at least the possibility is there. Given the anti-military and anti-law enforcement rhetoric stoked by the democrat party, there is no need for our nation’s finest to be at the mercy of unhinged Leftists intent on doing them harm.

  9. anon@8:10: As long as Trump is doing some House cleaning at the. highest ranks, and has ousted Noem and Bondi, he should replace Hegseth while he's at it.
