Ryan Mackenzie has already lost the election, there's not enough money to save his seat. He and the local Republican sycophants were too indoctrinated to calculate that Trump's Bad Bunny rant wouldn't play well in the 7th Congressional District. Hope they enjoyed the Kid Rock show, because it will end up being a very costly ticket. There's an old saying that if you're going to be dumb, you better be tough. Before the Super Bowl controversy, I already decided that anyone that partisan was too dumb for my vote.
Lately, I haven't been printing many comments. Mention TDS and I don't print it. Some unprinted ones claim that the local Puerto Ricans don't vote anyway. I don't know what their turnout is, but I do know that with Mackenzie winning 2024 with just 1%, he can't afford to leave any votes on the table.
I think from the Democratic viewpoint, with Mackenzie shooting himself, who wins the primary isn't as relevant as it was...they will still win. From my independent perspective, I'm supporting Ryan Crosswell. He's not as polished slick as some in Washington, but his sincerity and work ethic sold me.
wow, so the election is going to based on Bad Bunny optics. you may be right, that is the depravity of today's electorate.
ReplyDeleteThe Bad Bunny optics just put another nail in Mackenzie's electoral coffin in the 7th. The national issue is that Trump can't shut up, and the Republicans won't speak up.
ReplyDeleteTrump would have been criticized for not watching that filth. But, he did view what we all did. He gave a personal opinion similar to my own. That’s his right.
DeleteMaybe you will find the courage to provide your own review of that halftime show.
anon@7:15: The issue isn't that Trump didn't like the show, he criticized it long before he ever saw it, and promoted an alternative show....not exactly a unifier.
ReplyDeleteI didn't relate to the music, nor have I for years. But, I thought the storytelling was very impressive, from the sugar cane fields to the damaged electric poles.
Puerto Ricans are United States citizens, constituting a political force in Pennsylvania, Florida and in New England. Trump's affront to them was also felt by other voters of Caribbean descent.
Actually, unless you understood spoken Spanish, or read the actual American interpretation of the script, your praise of the storytelling is without much merit. Maybe, get back to us another time.
Delete“From my independent perspective, I'm supporting Ryan Crosswell.”
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean that you’ll be registering as a democrat, so you can vote for him in the democrat primary?
Or is your “support” going to be limited to hoping he makes it to the general election and then carping about who the democrats chose (and how independents are “excluded” from the primary process) if he doesn’t?
anon@7:39: I will not be changing my registration, nor "carping" about primary process. If no candidate is acceptable to me, i'll pass on voting. I do not vote for the lessor of two evils. I did not vote for president in 2024.
ReplyDeleteanon@7:50: Living in a minority majority area, I was well aware of the controversy about the damaged electric grid in Puerto Rico. I do not know how Trump vs The Super Bowl played out across the country, but here in the 7th, it hurt Mackenzie.
ReplyDeleteI live in this same community and have a long history as a public school teacher working directly with thousands of our Latino neighbors, young and old.
ReplyDeleteKnowing that community’s priority on the concept of family, and a respect for their intelligence, I’m pretty sure most mature Latinos will agree that halftime performance was NOT at all an appropriate choice.
Probably made a majority cringe, to be portrayed in such a smut-filled manner with vulgar language and simulated sex acts. Our Latino friends are more likely to have felt insulted by that image of their proud culture.
Democrat Super voter checking in. I kept an open mind and was not offended at all by the Spanish language halftime show..in fact I thought the stage set to a rural/small town Caribbean theme was colorful, festive and enjoyable. Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin were very good as well..no need to hide the children. I don't dislike Ryan Mackenzie, but I'll vote for Crosswell if he wins the primary. I'll cross over if Brooks wins, as an informed voter, I just don't trust him.
ReplyDelete“I do not know how Trump vs The Super Bowl played out across the country, but here in the 7th, it hurt Mackenzie.”
ReplyDeleteReally? And what scientific poll did you commission to know that?
anon@10:11: The twerking is nothing new at the Super Bowl.
ReplyDeleteanon@12:11: consult your "sources" about how popular Bad Bunny is with Puerto Ricans, then maybe you can figure out how the dots connect.
“consult your "sources" about how popular Bad Bunny is with Puerto Ricans, then maybe you can figure out how the dots connect.”
ReplyDeleteSo as usual, the whole anti-Trump post was based on phony “facts”.
anon@7:08: It's not an anti-Trump post and Bad Bunny is very popular with the Puerto Rican community. I don't know if you're genuinely deluded, or think that perhaps you can convince someone that Trump's rant had no consequences. But future baseless argumentative comments such as yours will not be hosted.
