Trump's Attack On Iran

Ryan Crosswell, Democratic candidate for the 7th Congressional District, has among others questioned Trump's attack on Iran. He finds the objective murky, and the Congressional approval missing in action.

Trump's contention that the Iranian public should now rise up ignores the reality that they have no weapons. Furthermore, there is also some public mourning in Iran for the death of their leaders. What percentage of the population favored regime change is unclear.

Besides the Netanyahu faction in Israel, Arab leaders had discouraged Trump's course of action. While the attack didn't surprise anyone considering the armada the United States assembled, world leaders will have less faith when we hold talks. In the short run, Israel will benefit most from the joint attack on Iran. How long that benefit lasts, along with its human cost, remains to be seen.

  1. Was Mister Crosswell alive in 1980 when the US Embassy in Tehran was siezed? Was he alive when United States Marines were killed at Beirut Airport? Was he alive when United States Air Force Airmen were killed in the Khobar Tower bombing?

Has Mr Crosswell ever heard the "Death to Americans" chants orchestrated by the Iranian Mullahs almost daily in Tehran since 1980?

Does Mr Crosswell know what the term "Retribution" means?

Supporting the attacks on the Islamist regime in Tehran does not imply support for the Trump presidency. It means you support the people of Iran and their desire to live in freedom under a government that does not slaughter tens of thousands of them in the streets that oppose the theocratic rule the people are forced to live under.

Iran has been a deadly enemy of the United States for the past 47 years. It is now time to return that hate, and yes, I said hate, with two ton bombs aimed right at their leaders to remove those evil men from the face of the earth.

  2. Can anything be more predictable than Democrats opposing anything that President Trump does? It’s one thing to have a thoughtful debate about attacking Iran or even Congress declaring war. Honest people can disagree about that. However, playing the “he didn’t come to Congress for approval card” is just insane. The whole thing comes down to this for the Democrats: It’s illegal if Trump does it. It’s that simple, and look no further than that. TDS is what this is about.

  3. “While the attack didn't surprise anyone…”

You mean except for the Supreme Leader* who seems to have been, well, supremely surprised.

    * - and I don’t mean Diana Ross.

  4. Brent@12:55: Crosswell is a former Marine and well aware of our history, I suspect much more so than Trump. Trump campaigned against wars and regime changes, but attacked Venezuela and threatened Greenland. He is no well versed international scholar with a long term plan, or any plan at all. Glad this adventure suits you, but the next one may not.

    1. You are great at shooting off your mouth but offer almost nothing in the way of solutions yourself. Can you not see this?

    2. Mike@6:33: The Democrats are acting reflexively, politicizing a battle which at its heart, is not political at all.

Over the weekend, anti-war groups, organized by Democratic groups like Code Pink, the Palestinian Youth Movement, Democratic Socialists of America, and ANSWER. As usual, demonstrators waved professional-looking, pre-printed signs and decried the strikes as unprovoked, as if the last 50 years of the Mullah’s tyranny and support for terrorism never happened. Their actions implicitly appear to defend the regime, despite its record of mass killings, proxy terrorism, and the ongoing suffering of its people.

The Democrat's stance reveal a profound misalignment: while the left claims to champion human rights, women’s rights, and anti-imperialism, here it prioritizes opposition to U.S. and Israeli action over solidarity with Iranians resisting tyranny.

The Iranian Mullahs brutally oppresses its people. Even cutting internet and utilities to quash dissent by killing it is thought to be tens of thousands of protesters against that regime in January. Yet has drawn little comparable outrage or protest from these quarters. Instead, Democrats criticize our intervention, even as Iranian citizens risk everything for liberty.

The dissonance is clear: supporting “peace” by preserving a regime soaked in blood contradicts advocacy for the oppressed and innocent. I cannot understand Mr. Crosswell's statements unless he supports the regime currently in Tehran that causes the deaths of tens of thousands of Iranians with the blood of those who want freedom and democracy flowing in the streets.

True peace-loving people worldwide, including many Iranians see the air attacls as escalation but as a dismantling of “unspeakable evil.” Defending or protesting in favor of such perpetrators while ignoring their victims highlights a troubling inversion of priorities, where politics overshadow the human cost of inaction against despotism, murder, and criminality.

  5. I see an anonymous party sycophant, who would support anything because his party is in charge. Excuse me, but I didn't know that I was threatened by Venezuela and Greenland. I didn't know that the threats by the 86year old were anymore dangerous now than before. But I do know that your commander and chief claimed last year that they destroyed the threat.

  6. No one seems to want to entertain the history of the U.S. and Iran, starting from the overturning of their first democratically elected leader in 1953, the CIA and Mossad trained SAVAK that brutally kept the Shah in power. The U.S. supported attack by Iraq that resulted in a million deaths aided by chemical weapons supplied by the U.S.. from 1980 ton1988.
The 1979 hostages were kept to insure they would not be invaded by the U.S. until they could manage the country.
    released in good health.
Can you prove that the marines were killed by Iran in Beirut or was it a reaction to the shelling of Beirut by the U.S. navy.
    Phony nuclear weapons excuse,
So, just to make the case that this ongoing hostility was not one sided.
What if Iran doesn't surrender, Are we ready to institute the draft and go in on the ground?
We all better hope that Trumps gamble is a winner.

    1. Much better to believe this ‘gamble’ is a winner. We’re involved now, but, thankfully, not acting alone. The rest of the Middle East, with a few exceptions, seems to approve of bringing Iran leadership back into respecting humanity. This will be a generational adjustment for all involved.

Reportedly, Iranian citizens are ecstatic over this effort. They will assume ultimate responsibility for going forward cooperatively within the rest of the world community.

America’s objective here is right. I plan to support it, not condemn it. Nor will I work to discourage fellow citizens, serving only to weaken our nation’s resolve. To do so, can only cause harm. Screw the back and forth political nonsense for a change.

    3. Europe is largely on board, with the necessary qualifiers to mollify their domestic Islamic populations, always present, rarely integrated.

Bummer about that unfortunate event in Austin, eh?

  7. It’s so ironic that the Left, who routinely smear their political opponents as “Hitler”, can’t be happy when the guy who is probably as close to an actual modern day Hitler as you can get is finally wiped off the map.

That tells me all I need to know about the Left, most democrats, and their supporters. They are dangerous, unserious people who only care about politics.

I happily acknowledge and applaud the ONE elected Democrat who is publicly supporting the Iranian action, our own Senator John Fetterman.

    1. Today’s radicalized Democrat Party supporters lack the quality of discernment. Everything is black or white with them. Right now, that means all things Trump bad. Bitter people.

  8. Come the Caliphate there will be no more Jews to blame.
Bonus points to the Shia (Persian) Iranians for lobbing some rockets at their Sunni Arab neighbors.
