I noticed Republican partisans circling the wagons and referring to the Nixon era mad man theory. They might want to remember that things didn't end well for Nixon, nor did the next election for the Republicans.
When tRump is gone no one is going to remember him. Republicans will remember Lincoln, Ike, Reagan, but not the Orange Man Bad. Not even the people who obsess over him ever single day, day in and day out, who constantly write about him, who react to and reflect on his every move. Not even those people will remember him.

DeleteThe proposed arch, if ever constructed, is designed to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday, thus the height of 250 feet. Many of the world’s great cities have constructed similar structures.
ReplyDeleteBecause the proposed Washington DC arch is said to require Congressional Approval, no doubt it will be denied, fought over, or radically reduced in size, scope, etc. by our present highly partisan, dysfunctional American Congress. A group containing many radical liberal Democrat/Socialists who object to anything this President proposes. After all, he’s an American loving patriot, don’t you know, who still proudly says the Pledge of Allegiance.
Like the hated new Ballroom project underway, being built with private donations and not tax dollars, this arch would further enhance the appearance and attraction of this nation’s capital city.
Haters and other fools are expected to claim the arch structure is designed solely to promote the internationally known trademark, Trump, but that’s ridiculous. So, call it the Trump Arch, Seward’s Folly, or any other wise crack. Just be sure to understand what the edifice truly represents. Assuming you have the maturity to grasp its real imagery and significance to future citizens.

A year or so ago, when I was visiting Los Angles, I went to the Ronald Reagan Library. It is in far north-west Los Angeles and was formerly the Reagan Ranch.
DeleteRonald Reagan and his wife Nancy are both buried there. Both of them have a pretty simple memorial. This is the man who said to Gorbachev "tear down this wall", and eventually freed 50 million people in Eastern Europe from Communism.
You see, those who are great do not need massive memorials. It is only those who want to be great that need a memorial such as this.

Reagan and Gorbachev had their moment. Trump has had more impact on American politics than any POTUS since FDR. Why do you think MM feels the need to address his positions and politics virtually every day, day in and day out. I have been a reader of MOLOVINSKY on ALLENTOWN since day one. I can’t recall MM ever mentioning Bed Time for Bonzo, President Ronnie Reagan, President Nancy Reagan or her astrologer. Reagan was instrumental in the fall of the Berlin Wall, he also had an economic policy that crushed middle class and working class Americans and their families.

Countless Ph.D. dissertations will dissect Trump’s personally, politics and policies. Dozens of biographies will fill bookshelves for generations.
Like him, hate him, love him, he has had more impact on the American body politic than anyone since FDR. He is a larger than life individual, to dispute this is pure folly.
I support a new, appropriately grand, ballroom for White House and a triumphal arch for the countries 250 birthday.
Partisan politics aside, every single American should be able to get behind making the country great again.

The brilliance of Trump includes his ability to not give a damn what others say about him. He’s bold and boastful, and why not? He’s earned that over decades of international accomplishments. A world leader who produces big results and happens to love America. No apologies required.
DeleteWe all can see a self-assured doer, and what some lesser lights claim to be mere narcissism. Along with this, some of us recognize envy and unhealthy jealousy in many of Trump’s detractors. Sad for them.
Through it all, no one reading this blog expects to be asked to vote for Trump again, so what’s the point behind all these nonsensical efforts? Truly a wasted effort by those with too much idle time on their hands.
