Ce-Ce And The Mailer

Yesterday, one week before the primary election, Democratic voters in the 22nd District received a mailer about an incident years ago, when Ce-Ce dropped a minor off at a homeless camp. She didn't know that he was a minor at the time. The mailer was sent with a disclaimer that it is not associated with any candidate, but obviously it is intended to impact the election against Ce-Ce.

I'm not condoning the homeless camp incident, and I'm sure neither would Ce-Ce. I am, however, criticizing the mailer. Although the 22nd is limited in size, never-the-less, the printing and mailing cost thousands of dollars. The mailer was sent by a group which was previously identified with Charlie Thiel.

Despite the mailer, I believe that Ce-Ce will prevail next Tuesday. I doubt that there is a door she hasn't knocked on. I doubt that there is a potential voter that she hasn't approached. The 22nd is a hardscrabble district, the residents appreciate gumption. Ce-Ce has gumption.

  1. I’m not so sure, but time will tell. The upside is that she will be off city council and Natalie Santos will be, more or less, impotent without CECe there. Enough is enough. CeCe is a one trick pony and wants to tear this city down. She won’t have the power to do that at the state level.

  2. And her “F___ the Police” charade didn’t bother you? It did me, but I also like the idea of getting her off Council and away from the City.

  3. It was only a short time ago when CeCe finally reponded to this act of irrespnsibility. She did so by blaming the "system" which is totally unacceptable. This is what cowards do when they have no other answer and fail to accept the fact that they failed in their actions and not the "system".

  4. anon@7:51: The anonymous mailer is "cowardly". Ce-Ce is open about her agenda. I believe that as a freshman representative, she will not have much, if any, opportunity to advance her progressive wish list. However, she will be able to vote on bills, and I believe that she would be much more independent in doing so than either Tiburcio or Smith.

  5. Charlie Thiel, there's a name we don't hear every day. Thank God. Who is CT backing for this seat? Or is he just anti-CeCe?

  6. anon@9:05: He is the name and address of record when the PAC was formed a couple of years ago. I assume the local Democratic party hierarchy is behind the mailer. The same group which first passed over Ce-Ce in favor of Julian Guridy, then Ana Tiburcio.

  7. Neither Tiburcio or Gerlach will be accused of being too smart for the position, which is a sad statement on what the voters are being offered.

No matter who wins the state race, the voters lose. As others have mentioned, the only silver lining to a Tiburcio win is that Gerlach remains on council as a sometime opponent to the disastrous Tuerk administration.

Unfortunately, she’s largely ineffective there, and if she was successful at passing half of what SHE wants that would be just as bad (or worse) for the city. So there’s no win for the city either.

If I didn’t know better, I’d swear the democrats were running on a platform of adding assisted suicide as a “healthcare” option, and this was their way of getting people to sign up for it.
