Istanbul is teeming. Construction and people are everywhere, working, shopping and enjoying a surge at the expense of Dubai and other Gulf States, impacted by the United States & Israeli war with Iran. All day and night long the Bosphorus is plied by freighters and tankers, unaffected by blockades and threats.
Turkiye is looking to position itself as the safe place for investment in the Moslem world, relatively free of the threats impacting the eastern Mediterranean.
Meanwhile, as Trump uses blockades and sanctions in the Middle East, his extended family is using their influence and connection to profit from real estate development there. Conflict of interest is a term unknown to the Trump family.
So we can’t just say “Turkey” anymore?
ReplyDeleteOf course there is no conflict of interest. When you have a philosophy of "Hooray for me! F the world!" there is no conflict. Whether, once achieving office, it's a daughter who gets fast-tracked Chinese trademarks, her husband who made multi-millions with foreign investors in real estate, or the huckster in chief who is scamming everyone he can with worthless crap. Scamming has pretty much been the family bussiness since the fraudelent (now defunct after lawsuits) Trump College. His mentor Roy Cohn would be proud of his protege who taught him a simple formula: "attack, counterattack and never apologize". He taught him to ignore facts, deny everything, and turn accusations back on accusers. For a low IQ lowlife with no morals, admiteedly, he learned this well.
