As I have been saying, the MAGA movement is morons and partisans, who are more concerned with power than American democracy. I don't care about the morons. They, like the banner on their pickups, are self explanatory. I am concerned with the partisans.
Trump is selling subscriptions to early policy decisions on his Truth Social. At the same time, he threatens ABC's license because they criticize his policies. The saving grace is that his policies change every ten minutes, and that the court judges are beginning to be concerned about their legacies.
It goes without saying that he and his entourage will profit unlike any other administration in history. I believe however that the Republican Party will pay a steep price for their cowardice. They will excuse the midterm loss as cyclical. What their excuse will be for 2028 remains to be heard, but they will need one.
I am a MAGA but also know that we do not live in an democracy, we live in a Republic. The word democracy appears nowhere in the Constitution. It only appears in the vernacular of those engaged in wishful thinking. Am I still a moron?
ReplyDeleteIf we lived in a democracy a group of people could gather and commit violence with no consequence against someone with whom they disagree. Because we live in a Republic, we have laws that make this type of nonsense criminally punishable. Democracy is mob rule based largely upon knee-jerk reactions and virtue signaling. Ben Franklin said it best: A Republic if you can keep it.
Love your voice and the fact that our Constitutional Republic makes it possible to publish a blog as a TRUE journalist with zero repercussions from those whom you criticize. If the Orange Man were half as bad as many claim there would be no criticism allowed (like say North Korea or Russia or China).
Not maga, but, to be more specific we live in a Democratic Republic.

I do not see the stations you mention, but the issue isn't their truthfulness, but their right to broadcast. I see Trump slurring the reporters and their stations and papers at press conferences, disgraceful.

French news, like German news reflects the the government positions. If you think euro news is giving you anything but that you're a parochial fool.
DeleteMainstream media appear to be an echo of each other. There seems to be no variance in the messages on major events each day from early AM to late PM excepting for adjectives used in their descriptions. Apparently these adjectival differences are meant to impress the general public as to the wide sources of varied opinions being presented; however, they may in fact emanate from a small Ivy League dominant clique working out the same studio.
ReplyDeleteThe news we grew up with in the fifties through the early eighties made us lazy. It appeared objective enough to be truth worthy. Clearly that is no longer the case but to many have failed to realize this and continue to believe without questioning. Now the truth must be diserned through multiple sources that don't share the same bias or political beliefs. We live in an age of uncertainty but facts can still be found for those interested in discovering the truth.

ReplyDeleteOff topic but I happened to drive past Union Terrace Elementary today (on Walnut).
ReplyDeleteAs I went past the lake, next was the Dadonna house then the entrance to the parking lot at the school. Next up is an old stone home that used to have a detached garage between the home and the entrance to the parking lot.
The garage is gone and judging by the disturbed ground it was removed recently.
My question is this: Was the “garage” an original outbuilding to the old stone house on the same lot? Part of me thinks that it was also a stone building, but I can’t remember for sure.
If so, did the city just allow another historic building to be razed without even a review?

Reilly then reported that he believes the Trump WH renovations will give our country more "credibility" with foreign dignitaries. Beyond senile
