Now that the Paramount/Warner deal has gone through, expect CNN to start being Trump friendlier. The CEO of the combined company, David Ellison, supposedly has an understanding with Trump that if the feds didn't oppose the merger, CNN & CBS would become nicer to the administration.
I suspect that CNN's recent ouster from the White House was actually more theater, and a distraction from Trump's successful taming of the media.
With such dominant information channels as CNN and CBS successfully being potty trained by Trump, speaking out will be left to the smaller fries. Complete freedom of expression might only be practiced by us smallest fries.
ADDENDUM: Trump continued to block CNN and others on Thursday, despite a judge ruling that the ban was unconstitutional.
ADDENDUM: The White House relented at 12:07PM following a renewed reprimand by the judge, and allowed the banned press access.

Lets face it, the cable media is dying financially, these big money investors understand this, while Musk may have had good intentions, I suspect others seek to control the narrative for their political and ideological gains.

Maybe you should re-post all the articles you wrote from when Obama and Biden did similar things to media outlets that were critical of them. Or is it only an issue for you because it’s Trump?

The public didn't mind Obama's basketball hoop, but they do mind the East Wind being demolished. They do mind changing the name of the gulf and lake, and most of all, they mind the silence of the sycophants.

BTW, we can all go to the Gulf or the Lake and enjoy the water. Nothing has changed there. As to the East Wing, it was an outdated office building that most of the people complaining about it couldn’t have identified previously.

ReplyDeleteIf I wanted to catch up on world news, CNN was the place to tune to. But it has drifted into a petty politically correct leftist negative complaining bunch of talking heads. It's hardly a News channel now.
And their woke audience is so small they are irrelevant and unprofitable. Went Woke Went Broke.
Maybe we will soon see Musk carrying a SINK in their Atlanta headquarters. Or maybe a toilet.
anon@7:59: Your excuse that people's opposition to Trump is based on a dislike of him, vs his policies, is flawed. He was accepted enough to be elected in 24, but.now his numbers are tanking. One juvenile self serving policy after another turned the public off. I don't hate Trump, and you don't love him, but you love the Republican party. I think that the Republicans, by their loyalty or fear, lost the independent vote that they carried in the last election.

DeleteBecause if not, all it means is that a cranky independent who was against Trump in 2024 is still against him now.
While some of the independents I know who actually voted for Trump might be upset about some things not turning things around fast enough, none of them want to return to the bat-crap crazy policies of the democrats. They’re happy that are borders are closed, with the tax breaks they got for tips, overtime and social security, and the reduction in government jobs being replaced with a bigger expansion of jobs in the private sector. Those are things that will pay long-term dividends for this country.
Yes there are still things to work on, but they all realize the failure that Democrat policies bring.
anon@1:24: I find it ironic that you want to know how I voted, but don't even sign your name :). In 2024, I did not vote for president. I think that you should be concerned about the polls, more than my "cranky" opinions....they don't look good for your party. Unless the surviving Republicans cut bait after the midterms, 2028 will be another loss for you.
