Molovinsky World Report

Saudi Arabia pushed back against Trump's Project Freedom, closing its airspace until Trump postponed the plan. We have also strained relations with former European allies going back to WW2.  Who could have imagined with such experienced diplomats as Trump, Witkoff and Kushner, that anything could have gone wrong?

With Israel still attacking in Lebanon and allowing the settlers to run amok in the West Bank, aspirations of the Abraham accords are no longer. Just as Trump disrupted NATO, Trump and Netanyahu have hurt Israel's long term future status with Washington, after this administration passes.

Although Republican diehards were encouraged by the primary in Indiana, the general in November will be telling. The coming Blue Wave may well make Trump's juvenile decisions harder to implement.

ADDENDUM: Later Thursday the Saudis regranted airspace, and Trump resumed Project (Operation) Freedom.

Molovinsky On Allentown will be opening its international bureau in Canakkale. Türkiye continues to position itself as the safe place for investment in the Middle East.

  1. I fear that no matter who or which party is elected, War is the future.

  2. This is all fake news bullshit. Trump ended all wars on his first day in office. To think otherwise is TDS.

  3. The coming blue wave in November is good for most Americans in what ways, exactly?

  4. anon@8:53: Closing the border was the first and last "good" thing the Trump administration did.
Came through Newark passport control last week. Two of twelve booths open...two hour lines. Don't think the R's will get many votes from anybody who traveled.
World reeling from the hantavirus scare, but Trump dropped us out of World Health Organization.
Musk's chainsaw was one clown act in a large clown show.
Yes, I know that you're glad that boys are no longer in your daughter's locker room...but millions of people will be glad that there are less sycophants in congress come November.

  5. I hope you have the maturity and objectivity to digest this entire comment. The concepts that Donald Trump is destroying NATO, or that Donald Trump is causing division between the U.S. and the reasonable European allies (or any related ideas) is vacuous. It can only be fantasized by disposing of any knowledge of post-WW II European history. A lesson begins below:
    1. France was a founding member of NATO. However, Charles deGaulle himself, WWII hero of France, withdrew them from NATO’s military apparatus in 1966. He wanted France to be independent of the alliance. NATO endured, and France rejoined years later.
    2. NATO members have actually engaged in combat against each other. In 1974, many years of hostility between Greece and Turkey, concerning the island nation of Cyprus, resulted in Turkish and Greek troops fighting on Cyprus. American diplomats, including Henry Kissinger, and European leaders, worked hard to stop the NATO on NATO bloodshed. You can argue that it was primarily a Cypriot conflict, but up to 2,000 Greek troops engaged the invading Turkish military.
    3. NATO has denied U.S. military base usage, and airspace overflight permission in the past. In 1986, Libyan-sponsored terrorists bombed a discotheque in West Berlin (in a NATO country) which killed several American military personnel. Ronald Reagan launched a reprisal raid on Libya from Europe and from U.S. Navy ships in the Mediterranean. The plan had to be modified because Italy, France, and Spain refused to let their bases or airspace be used for the raid. These are the same countries that denied permissions in 2026 action against Iran. U.S. F-111 electronic warfare and fighter-bomber aircraft from England had to fly west of Spain and back east to get to Libya.
Don’t get so rabid. Europe has been like this before. Sometimes in history it!s been worse. It still needs to get better. It hasn’t always been Trump’s fault.

  6. anon@3:52: Thanks for the history lesson, and you must know that Trump's grasp of history is zero. Worse of course, is his grasp of current events. Trump wants to make unilateral decisions, and then complain when the former allies don't support his decisions in the manner in which he thinks they should. I say "former", because I believe we are perceived now as impulsive, lacking goals and policy.
While you failed to modify my opinion, you have 6 months to convince about 100 million people.
I think the real questions now is who will win the Democratic nomination, and how the Trump damage will be repaired.
