Bill O'Reilly is telling his audience that they're paying a high price for gasoline because the oil companies are gouging them at the pump. Don't you believe that closing the Straits Of Hormuz and trapping the oil tankers is a factor. Instead, believe President Trump, that we're being gouged.
Sean Hannity gets to ride on Air Force One(s) on Trump's side of the door. Bill O'Reilly gets to walk around the White House with the Pres himself. All it takes is not being part of the fake news, like all the other reporters.
We're in uncharted territory concerning freedom of the press. On one hand Trump is selling early access to the news, on the other hand he is threatening broadcast licenses. His personal attorney now runs the Justice Department. I must have faith that eventually these institutions will have their integrity restored.
Is this what’s bothering you Mike, the Orange Man Bad isn’t calling you for some close up and personal?
ReplyDeleteanon@12:34: Actually, I'm too much of a journalist to want to be on his side of the door. I see your man is.now practicing pediatrics.
ReplyDelete“…on the other hand he is threatening broadcast licenses.”
ReplyDeleteThere are a small number of broadcast stations (think of the old channels 2-13 on the TV dial), and licenses are issued with the provision that they don’t play politics. [Note: We are only talking about broadcast stations; not cable stations that can do what they want, as far as politics]
If broadcasters play fairly they have nothing to worry about. If they violate the law, then their licenses SHOULD be reviewed. If they don’t want the scrutiny, they can move their programming to cable.
anon@12:59: The FCC threats against the ABC affiliates is unprecedented. Trump being displeased with the news is no legitimate reason for harassment. Another department whose integrity is compromised by this administration.
ReplyDeleteDo you consider The View to be a news show? I don’t, yet ABC tucks it under its news division to exempt it from equal time rules.
DeleteI realize that you’ve likely grown accustomed to have the existing bias go unchecked, but that doesn’t make it right.
At the same time, you seem to know a lot about ABC News for someone who claims not to watch it.
Schmitt Munt act enacted many many years ago and than rescinded by the divider and chief we all voted for in change?
ReplyDeleteanon@4:37: I know about broadcasting and the FCC, I actually studied such things. I know that it is being weaponized. I know I. never heard a president before speak of "fake news", and call reporters stupid, fat, and ugly because he doesn't like their questions. Our chat is over.
